Shawn Roche’s practice primarily focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, preparing opinions of counsel, and due diligence investigation in the areas of software, mechanical engineering, medical devices, and consumer electronics.

During his time at Brooklyn Law School, where he graduated with a certification in Intellectual Property Law, Shawn served as a Managing Editor for the Journal of Law and Policy, where he performed extensive research on the America Invents Act. Shawn also spent two semesters in the prestigious Brooklyn Law Incubator and Policy clinic, assisting start-up companies pursue patent protection in areas such as 3D imaging, audio devices, and software. He also assisted companies in prosecuting design patents and registered trademarks, and in complying with DMCA and FCC regulations.

Shawn joined the firm in 2012, while attending Brooklyn Law School, as a law clerk. He assisted the firm’s attorneys with patent preparation and prosecution by drafting, preparing, and filing documents.

Before beginning his legal career, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer, designing heating, plumbing, and fire protection systems for hospitals, schools, laboratories, and hotels.
